Perhaps you are thinking that pregnant with period is not possible.  Even though it might seem rather impossible, it has happened before.  A woman’s reproductory system is really unpredictable and things beyond the ordinary can occur at anytime.  If you are having irregular menstrual cycle, the possibility of getting pregnant with period is even bigger.  If you are not planning to have a child in the near future and you only want to use the natural birth controlling method, it is best that you study about the cycle of menstruation and its relation to pregnancy.

You can get pregnant with period due to several reasons. Although it is a slim chance for many women to get pregnant with period, the chance is still there.  For many women, the ovulation process will normally occur in between two menstrual cycles.  However, there are some women whose ovulation will occur during the menstruation.  This explains why it is possible for you to get pregnant even when you are having your period.

Pregnant with Period- How Long Can Sperm Survive?

In normal circumstances the sperm can only survive up to three days after sexual intercourse.  However, in certain conditions the sperm can survive for up to seven days.  If ovulation occurs seven days after the intercourse and you are having your period at that time, certainly there is a potential to get pregnant with period.

What other way can you get Pregnant with Period?

Pregnant with period can also occur if you are having irregular bleeding.  The normal length of period is usually six to eight days but it can be shorter or longer than that.  Ovulation can occur during the last days of your period. If you are having a longer duration of menstruation than you normally have, you might get pregnant with period if you get engaged in sexual intercourse during those days.

Some women may experience ovulation spotting.  This condition is often thought as prolonged period.  However, this is not period but rather a sign that ovulation is occurring.  Therefore, it doesn’t mean that you are not fertile during spotting.  In fact, you are most fertile during this time.  If you want to conceive, this is the right time to get engaged in sexual intercourse.  Avoid sexual intercourse during this time if you are not planning to have a child, otherwise there is a great potential that you will become pregnant with period.

Pregnant with Period while on Irregular Period Cycles.

Pregnant with period can also happen when a woman ovulates two times in one menstrual cycle.  This often happens to a woman who experiences irregular period cycles.  During certain cycles they can’t produce any eggs but during other cycles they can produce two eggs and this can enhance the probability of getting pregnant with period.

Women with very short period cycles are also exposed to the possibility of getting pregnant with period.  The common period cycle is around 28 to 30 days but to some women 17 days is their normal cycle.  In general, a woman with short menstrual cycles will experience ovulation right after the period.  When the women get engaged in sexual intercourse during the last days of their period, there is a tendency for them to get pregnant with period.
